Our Story
BRIEF HISTORY
In the early 1970's the community of Hubbard passed a bond issue to build the Hubbard Community Pool. The natatorium finally opened in 1975 under the direction of Mr. Richard Cepin.
Throughout the years the natatorium has had the opportunity for many uses. The Hubbard Community Pool is home to programs like Kraken Swimming, Lifeguarding, Water Safety Programs, AAU and USS competitive swimming just to name a few.
In December of 2003, for the first time since 1975, the doors to the natatorium closed due to structural damage. After about a year and a half and over $500,000 in repairs, the doors were reopened for business in May of 2005.
AN AQUATIC REVOLUTION
As time has passed, the Hubbard Community Pool has stayed on the cutting edge of aquatic programming. Now as we begin the 21st century, we are moving in the direction to help motivate and provide a comfortable atmosphere where everyone can feel welcome and excited to swim, workout or just spend quality time with friends or family.
In 2009 an Aquatic Revolution began right here in Hubbard, Ohio. Aquatic Director, Craig Yaniglos attended the International Aquatic Fitness Conference in Orlando, FL. Immediately the shift began towards changing Aquatic Fitness. While our other programs stayed in tact, fitness instructors began teaching from the deck with a microphone and great sound system. The participants loved it and soon our classes were packed with smiling faces and people leaving exhausted. This teaching method filtered into all of our classes so that our members benefit the most.
In 2013 and 2015, 2016, Craig Yaniglos was selected to be a presenter for the International Aquatic Fitness Conference in Palm Harbor, FL sponsored by the Aquatic Exercise Association. Perhaps one of the most prestigious events offered in the world, this is a huge honor for our community. The Hubbard Pool continues to deliver high quality aquatic fitness classes to the entire Mahoning Valley. Our facility has set the bar to the highest standard and we hope to see you in one of our fitness classes.
In setting the bar high, this includes EXCLUSIVE classes that you cannot find anywhere else. We are the only provider of HydroRider bikes that allow us to offer HydroSpinning (Spinning in the water), Tabata, Bootcamp Circuit, PlyoJam, Yoqua and more. Does your facility offer these?
New in 2016 is a redesigned swimming program. One program to suit everyone from infants to those in their 70s and beyond. Introducing...Kraken Swimming, a program run entirely by the Hubbard Community Pool that offers swimming lessons from 6 months of age to 14, a rec-team from ages 6 to 18, a competitive team from 4-18 and a Masters Program for those 18 and over. All of the information about swimming can be found at www.krakenswimming.com.
JOIN US FOR THE FUTURE
No longer should you accept the status quo. Aquatic Facilities provide such a tremendous asset to the communities in which they serve. It is our hope that other facilities will adopt programs such as ours to raise awareness and help the aquatic community grow.
